Velvet Files does not offer acrylic nail services due to their risks. Acrylic application requires mixing a ethyl methacrylate (EMA) — with a powder polymer. Monomers can cause contact dermatitis and respiratory irritation, particularly for technicians with repeated daily exposure.
Gel X extensions eliminate monomer exposure entirely. The Aprés system uses a pre-formed soft gel tip bonded with a HEMA-free gel adhesive — no mixing, no fumes, no heavy filing of the natural nail surface.

Aprés Gel-X Extend Gel is HEMA-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. HEMA is a common adhesion promoter in gel products that can cause contact allergies in some clients and technicians. The HEMA-free formulation is safe for clients who have developed sensitivities to traditional gel systems. The Gel Bottle gel polish used for the color finish is 100% vegan and PETA-certified cruelty-free.

How do I maintain my Gel X extensions at home?
Apply cuticle oil daily — our house-made blend with olive oil, rice bran oil, and vitamin E is available for purchase at the salon. Avoid acetone-based products between appointments. Wear gloves for cleaning and household tasks. Do not use your nails as tools to open, scrape, or pry things. These steps directly affect how long your set lasts.
